My uncle died last night. He's been battling lymphoma and leukemia for the past six years. Last fall they started him on an experimental treatment that cured the lymphoma and leukemia, but was so hard on his body that he didn't recover.
My mother was fairly close to him. She had been spending every Sunday with him for the past four months or so-- giving my Aunt some time off. She said yesterday my uncle decided he didn't want to fight any more. He told her he wanted to die. They spent the day talking, praying and reading the Bible.
